Additional Resources Using Your Benefits

Get the most out of your normal SNAP benefits

Use SNAP Beyond The Grocery Store

SNAP benefits are based on your household’s income and other living expenses. Tell DTA about medical costs, adult or childcare costs, if you pay child support to a child outside of your SNAP household, or housing costs that could help increase your normal monthly SNAP benefits.

Healthy Incentives Program (HIP)

Get Reimbursed for Fresh Produce With SNAP

Did you know you can use your SNAP benefits at local farmer’s markets or farm stands? The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) puts money back on your EBT card when you use it to pay for healthy, local produce from participating farm vendors. Once the money has been returned to your EBT card, you can spend it at any SNAP retailer as you normally would.

If you live in Massachusetts and get SNAP benefits, your household is automatically enrolled in the program. Your monthly HIP cap is based on the number of people in your household:

  • 1-2 people →  $40

  • 3-5 people → $60

  • 6+ people → $80

Ready to shop? Visit DTAFinder.com to find HIP vendors near you.

Summer EBT

Summer EBT is here!

Summer EBT is a new program that helps low-income families with school-aged children buy food when schools are closed for the summer. Most students are automatically enrolled in Summer EBT.

Eligible students receive a one-time payment of $120. Students not automatically enrolled can apply online from June 15 through September 7 at DTAConnect.com or through a paper application at their school.

Payments will be made on 7/25, 8/25, and 9/25 depending on when the application is received.

If you get SNAP, Summet EBT will go on your DTA EBT card. If you don't get SNAP, DTA will mail out Summer EBT cards in July.

Questions? Call the Summer EBT Hotline at 855-425-8770.

How do I create a PIN for my Summer EBT card?

You need a PIN to use the Summer EBT card. To add a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to your Summer EBT card, call the number on the back of the card (1-800-997-2555) and follow the prompts. You will need your case number (which begins with the numbers 8 and 0) from the approval notice from DTA and the birthday of the person whose name is on the approval notice from DTA.

For students in foster care, you need the student's birthday.

If you do not have the notice with your case number, call the Summer EBT hotline to get it: 855-425-8770.
