SNAP Benefits Increase With Cost of Living

Beginning October 2024, most SNAP recipients will see an increase in their monthly benefits due to a raise in the maximum household benefit level.

The chart demonstrates the new maximum benefit rates, effective October 1, 2024.

Please Note: Not all households receive the maximum benefit amount. The SNAP calculation is based primarily on income, allowable deductions, and household size.

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

Each year, the federal government adjusts SNAP benefit amounts to keep pace with inflation. This is known as the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). The cost of living adjustment can cause benefits to increase OR decrease annually.  Massachusetts also received approval to include increased heating/utilities costs in determining the SNAP benefits amount.
